Lehman Charrod Tucker, Charrod to his friends, was 20 years old and a father to two young children. He had just gotten a new job. Life for the young man was slowly taking shape. With a loving, supportive family, and two beautiful little boys to raise, Charrod’s future had promise. Sadly, that promise would never be fulfilled.
On the afternoon of April 18, 2023, Charrod was hanging out with his friend and his friend’s girlfriend in his apartment in at 701 S. Yakima Ave. His friend’s 18-year-old ex-girlfriend kept sending threatening messages to the current girlfriend who was pregnant with his friend’s child.
The messages continued until finally the rage-filled woman showed up at the apartment building demanding to fight the pregnant woman. Lehman Charrod Tucker and his friend went outside to deal with the situation.
Witnesses say that an argument began and as Charrod was walking away, a 22-year-old man in a ski-mask later identified as the angry woman’s boyfriend shot Charrod six times in the back. The woman and the masked man then ran into an alley where they got in a car and drove away. Charrod was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries becoming the tenth Tacoma homicide of 2023.
People who knew Charrod say that it was exactly in his character to try to defuse tense situations. He got along with most people and was always quick with a smile or a joke. He had an infectious smile and enjoyed both playing and watching sports.
It’s a colossal understatement to say that this murder was needless, senseless, and infuriating. Charrod had absolutely nothing to do with the people responsible for killing him. His two sons will grow up never knowing their father because a young woman instigated a confrontation and brought along a lifelong criminal. Both individuals have been arrested and charged in Charrod’s murder.
Charrod’s family has set up a GoFundMe that is still active. Every bit of it goes into a trust for his two children.

Charrod is my godson, my sons best friend, and a big/little brother to my other children. Charrod is the life of the party no matter what was going on. He did not deserve what happened to him. His sons did not deserve this. Its about time the justice system starts holding people accountable for their actions. I've said this multiple times the shooter needs to be held accountable but the female involved needs to be punished far worse then the actual shooter as there would have never been a shooting if it wasn't for her. Charrod would still be here joking around, dancing, living life and raising his children if it wasn't for this female. This female took the magic away from a lot of us and for that she should never see the light of freedom again. Charrod will always be remembered, loved and talked about. His life and legacy will live on in all of us.
Rest in peace to my Grandsons father.
