17th Tacoma Homicide of 2022: Jusdon Mounts
It was nearing midnight on April 20, 2022. Jusdon Mounts, 37 was sitting in a car in a parking lot in the 2300 block of South G Street when someone shot him. Another person in the car drove Jusdon to St. Joseph’s Hospital. A little over a week later Jusdon would die of his injuries becoming the seventeenth Tacoma homicide of 2022.
The last six months of Jusdon’s life had been some of the best. He’d gotten married and was really enjoying spending time with his wife, Danielle, and two children, Annabella and Kylease. He was rarely happier than when he had time to play with his children. He was also someone who valued friendship and saw his close friends like family.
As is the case with so many 2022 Tacoma homicides, there isn’t a lot of information about what happened both due to police not releasing a lot of information and the news media largely ignoring violent crime on Tacoma’s Hilltop during a year of record breaking violent crime in the city.
When someone you love has been murdered and the media response is a couple of small articles, it can feel like the world does not recognize the magnitude of your loss. And those who have not experienced sudden loss genuinely don’t. But a new bride lost her husband, two kids lost their father, and that’s something that will have a lasting impact on them as well as everyone else in their lives and who knew Jusdon.
