28th Tacoma Homicide of 2023: Nodra Emile
Forty-seven-year-old Nodra Emile was staying at her mother’s house in the 6200 block of South Cheyenne Street on December 2, 2023. She and her estranged husband were trying to patch things up and bring their family back together. Their kids, ages 10, 13, and 16 were upstairs with their parents. Her and her husband had been arguing for hours.
Her ex-husband has a history of domestic violence charges and arrests. She’d even gotten a restraining order against him the previous March that was still valid that December night.
But he was the father of her children and it’s not like she didn’t love the man. So she tried. And around 3:30am on December 2nd, her estranged husband did something that made Nodra yell out, “He’s going to kill me.”
He put his hands around her throat and strangled her while one of their children told him to ‘stop hurting mom.’
Police arrived at around 4am. By this time, her husband had left with the three children. First responders found a pulse and brought Nodra to the hospital where they determined she was brain dead. She died later that day.
Police arrested her estranged husband and charged him with her murder.
Nodra came from a close-knit family who care deeply for each other. They’ve put together a fundraiser for her kids that is still active. If you want to directly help someone in the Tacoma community, please consider donating.
