The morning of September 1, 2022 was quiet in Tacoma. Firefighters responded to a call about a nonresponsive man in the 2000 block of Wright Avenue. They found the 29-year-old man in some bushes nearby. Skyler Cruz Zimmerle was dead of a gunshot wound before they arrived. Skyler was the 31st Tacoma homicide of 2022.
Police questioned nearby residents who admitted they heard gunshots around 3:00am, but did not bother to report them as it was not an uncommon sound in Tacoma’s Eastside.
It has been nearly a year and a half and this case remains unsolved.
Skyler or Skye as he was called had a big heart. His family felt his love and will miss having him around at gatherings. He leaves behind two children who will now have to grow up never getting to know their father. He enjoyed fishing. And he was no stranger to tragedy himself having lost his father and brother.
Every death changes every life that person touched. It’s all the more haunting when the circumstances of their death are largely unknown and the perpetrator remains unpunished. If you have any information on this death, please don’t hesitate to contact the Tacoma Police Department at (253) 591-5959 or Pierce County Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
The comment section is reserved for those who knew Skye and want to share thoughts, photos, or memories of him.

There's Definitely a Huge Void in this World without Him and a Hole in All his Siblings and Our Mother Heart.
His Smile was Contagious, His Laughter now just a Echo in Silence.
The Ache and Burden of just Longing to Hug Him once more, Hear his Voice say I love You Bro.
You can Feel The Envious and see that The Fake Men of Tacoma still have an Obsession and Yearning of wanting to be my Brother even after his Death you hear and see the Fake Thugs Trying to Use His Name as there Own.
