39th Tacoma Homicide of 2022: Juan Tinajera Ruvalcaba
Juan Tinajera Ruvalcaba was fixing his bicycle in the early morning hours of November 21, 2022 in the 8000 block of Hosmer. Authorities cannot tell us the motivation of full circumstances of what occurred next, but what is known is that shortly after shooting another man in the head in a trailer, a 28-year-old man approached Juan and also shot him in the head.
Juan is the thirty-ninth Tacoma homicide of 2022 and the sixth Tacoma homicide of 2022 to occur on Hosmer. Hosmer is a hotbed of criminal activity. So much so that the Tacoma News Tribune did a special report on the area just a couple of months before Juan’s murder.
The man who allegedly shot and killed Juan was arrested just four hours later after police found him a few trailers down still wearing bloody clothing. He was later also charged with the September murder of Jeaneane Mattis.
I was unable to find any information including a photo of Juan. This is not uncommon when dealing with homeless individuals. The lack of information tends to lead media outlets to ignore homicides like this one.
But Juan Tinajera Ruvalcaba had friends and loved ones for whom this is anything but a forgettable event. For those individuals, I encourage them to share thoughts, memories, and photos if you feel so inclined. If you’d prefer, you can also email these things to jackcameronis@gmail.com
