5th Tacoma Homicide of 2022: Victor Scott
On the afternoon of January 31, 2022 fifty-six-year-old, Victor Scott was sitting in the backseat. He was one of three people in the car. They were looking to sell a catalytic converter, but took a wrong turn near South 54th and South Washington Street. When the driver corrected their direction they inadvertently cut off a Hyundai Sonata. The occupants of the Sonata ran into the back of their car, waved guns at them, and then opened fire. Victor called out, “I’m hit.”
The Sonata drove away. The driver of the other car pulled over, called 9-1-1, and headed for St. Claire Hospital. He was then transported to the local trauma hospital, Tacoma General where he later died becoming the fifth Tacoma homicide of 2022.
Shortly after his murder, a 24-year-old was arrested and charged with the crime.
I attempted to learn more about Victor, but it does not appear he had a strong online presence and my offline resources turned up very little. I know that he was a truck driver who lived in Graham. Beyond that, I can’t say much more about him except that he was taken from those who loved him because someone simply could not let go of their anger at being cut off in traffic. It’s absurd and tragic that such events are not uncommon in Tacoma these days.
If you knew Victor and would like to share any thoughts or memories of him, please comment below. Also if you happen to have a photo of Victor, please contact me at jackcameronis@gmail.com.
