Police were called to a local hospital on the evening of February 19, 2022 after 29-year-old Kavonte Crowley was admitted with a gunshot wound to the head. He died at the hospital becoming Tacoma’s 8th Tacoma homicide of 2022.
Police eventually determined that Kavonte was shot in the 4300 block of South Cedar Street but have released few details about the crime beyond that. No one has been arrested and there are no descriptions of Kavonte’s killer.
I was unable to find out much about Kavonte Crowley’s life. His online presence seems to be minimal and the only articles I can find about the incident that ended Kavonte’s life are shorter than this article.
One of the many difficulties with an increased crime rate is that some crimes get less attention and other crimes are ignored entirely. And given that what I do requires sources, this makes the chronicling of Tacoma homicides that much more difficult.
The crime rate does not change the impact that a homicide has on those who knew the victim. For them, it isn’t just another crime. It is a meteor strike to their lives. It’s knowing that all that’s left of your loved one are photos and memories. It’s forgetting for a moment in your day that he’s gone. It’s expecting to hear his laugh again.
While I cannot tell you much about Kevonte’s life, his friends and family can. This is why the comment section is reserved for those who knew Kevonte and want to share thoughts or memories of him.

It's sad to say that I'm 16 and I've lost more then most, yea I'm endured a lot of deaths in my family (mom and dad's side) but this one hit me different. He was a father, a bonus father, a brother, a son, a cousin and so much more to so many other people! He wanted better not only for him but for his family. I hope and pray that whomever did this to my cousin pays for his kids pain and his mother's pain, for everybody's sake. I love you Kevonte and I'll always keep ur name alive my sweet angel
One of many family members I've lost since 2019.....Went through therapy because of all the deaths that have been compiled since them. I miss u Kavonte, and u should be here in real life, not a memory. Love you cuddy
